Our Classrooms

Richmond Montessori School enrolls children between 12 months to 6 years of age and provides a multi-age learning environment. A mixed-age group provides opportunities for peer learning/teaching and fosters social development and responsibility.

Our classroom is designed to encourage children to work at their own pace while using scientifically designed Montessori materials. This enables the child to correct themselves with the help of built-in control of error within each material, allowing the child to explore and perfect their own work.

Children are guided to work with the material until a level of competence is reached. This, in itself, is an evaluation of the child's ability. Each child is taught individually, giving the teachers immediate insight into the child's grasp of every concept taught.

The school will operate from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday. The school will be closed for two weeks during the Christmas break, as well as a week during the summer break.

The school will also be closed on all Statutory and Civic holidays, including Easter Monday.

“Children acquire knowledge through experience in the environment.”

Goals & Objectives

Our Montessori program provides a well-rounded curriculum that caters to the unique needs of every child. We are committed to nurturing and educating the total development of your young child.

The school goals and objectives are as follows:

Provide a Montessori education personalized to each child, enabling them to become active, contributing members of society.

Provide plenty of physical activities and free play time in complying with the Montessori learning experience.

Provide children with a quality program in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that enables them to become independent individuals.

Help children develop socially, intellectually, emotionally, and physically at their own pace.

Help each child to develop the good foundational habits, attitudes, and skills which are essential for a lifetime of creative learning.

Build a strong partnership between home and school to cultivate a family-oriented program with a comfortable, inviting atmosphere.

“Within the child lies the fate of the future.”
Dr. Maria Montessori

Montessori Philosophy

"Our schools show that children of different ages help one another. There are many things that no teacher can convey to a child of three, but a child of five can do it with ease."
- Dr. Maria Montessori
